Corn Marigold is a vigorous, heavily branched plant that can reach a height of 1 m in nitrogen-rich soils.
The leaves are around 10 cm long and lobed deeply to shallowly.
The plant has a waxy surface and is hairless, giving it a blue-green look.
The flower heads are 3-6 cm across and resemble a single enormous flower, as is typical of the dasiy family (Asteraceae).
The disc-florets in the center are golden yellow, while the ray-florets that make up the flower head's outer section have solitary golden petals up to 1.5cm long.
The seeds of the inner disc-florets are cylindrical and without wings, whereas the seeds of the outer ray-florets are broad and winged.
